Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its 13 series soon, and it looks like the upcoming device will be better than its predecessors. Rumors say that the Xiaomi 13 will arrive with a Snapdragon 820 Gen 2 processor and 12GB of RAM, as seen on GeekBench scores. If true, this would make it the most powerful Android device from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi has been suspected of working on two high-end variants for some time now, but it looks like the company might only decide to release one. However, the company appears to be working on a follow-up device natively powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That’s because there are new listings on GeekBench of a phone called “Xiaomi 13” with a Snapdragon 820 Gen 2 chipset and 12GB of RAM.
For those who don’t know, the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series is expected to include two variants, the entry-level 13 and the more expensive 13 Pro model.
The GeekBench listing that was spotted hints at a device with model number 2211133C and showed it running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, there is no other information available about this device. There could be a higher memory option, given the 12GB RAM score on GeekBench. If that’s true, it will make the device one of the first Android devices with such a high memory capacity.
The device’s performance, however, is likely to be very good. However, the smartphone can achieve a 4K display at 30 fps and full resolution HDR content. The benchmarking score on GeekBench also hints that the Xiaomi 13 earned 5089 points in the multi-core tests and 1497 points in the single-core tests of the benchmarks.
The device will run on the Android 13 OS-based MIUI out of the box. For now, there is no information about the 13 Pro model.
If the device does launch, it will be one of the most powerful smartphones in the world. That is because most of its competitors have yet to launch this new chipset. This will give Xiaomi an edge over other Chinese smartphone manufacturers and rivals like OnePlus, which recently released its latest flagship, the OnePlus 10, with a Snapdragon 845 processor. But there could be a possibility that this device could be a one-off special edition or a prototype that has been mistaken for a natural product by users on GeekBench.
