Xiaomi 12i Hypercharge could feature both large battery and 120W fast charging

Xiaomi continues its assault on the premium mid-range segment by aiming to launch another flagship device. With the release of the 10i and 12i, Xiaomi is making a solid play for space in the Indian market. The company has launched its phones in India alongside its global counterparts, with more competitive pricing than we’ve seen before. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ in India could be established as the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge. The information was recently shared in a Tweet by MIUI tester Kacper Skzypek.

Xiaomi 12i Hypercharge

The recent MI 12 series by Xiaomi has made a mark in the mid-range segment of the market and has even managed to become one of the best-selling smartphones in its segment. The phones feature various hardware specifications, power, and software pre-loaded, which many earlier smartphones did not feature.

The Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge is rumored to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Replacing the recent Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge, this phone will be the thinnest Xiaomi phone yet.

But while there are good reasons to be optimistic about the company’s prospects in India, it seems that Xiaomi may need to focus on making its devices relevant here by adding features like fast charging and a bigger battery.

A new leak suggests that Xiaomi is targeting these issues with its next phone launch: the 12i Hypercharge will come packing a beefy 5000mAh battery and 120W fast charging technology, according to leaked pictures of what may be unreleased packaging. Like other flagship devices, the battery and fast charging capabilities are expected to be significant marketing points for Xiaomi with the 12i Hypercharge.

According to the rumors, the Xiaomi 12i Hypercharge could also feature 120W fast charging technology on board and charge up to 50% of its battery in just 30 minutes. This fast charging technology is unavailable now, so extra points go to Xiaomi here as they haven’t launched such fast charging technology yet in their recent smartphones.

As an affordable flagship, we can expect Xiaomi’s upcoming device to feature impressive specifications and software, such as MIUI 10. Offering both fast charging and a big battery is a big thing for Xiaomi, as this could make their upcoming device the best-selling smartphone in India.

The device’s display is a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display panel with a fingerprint reader on the front. Corning Gorilla Victus will protect the display. This will make it a perfect device to get hands-on.

The camera will be a triple rear setup with 108MP primary, M8P Ultra Wide, and 2MP macro cameras. You can capture photos and videos in 4K, 1080P/60fps, 720p-960p/120fps, and a 16MP selfie camera on the front.

According to Kacper Skzypek, Xiaomi will price their new device aggressively in India. The company is expected to offer the device for 27999 INR, around 475 USD or Rs 32000. This seems like a very competitive price point, but if it is true, many other smartphone companies will have to sit up and take notice of Xiaomi’s strategy in India.

If the information is accurate, Xiaomi will face tough competition in the Indian market. Many other brands, such as Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo, have experienced tremendous sales growth with their devices in India. Xiaomi will have to upgrade its device specifications to stay competitive in the Indian market.

We will soon find out if this device has features that could help Xiaomi become one of India’s leading smartphone manufacturers. We are keeping our fingers crossed for this upcoming smartphone, as it might be a massive success in India if launched at reasonable prices.
