Xiaomi has recently launched the Redmi Note 12 5G in India. The device is designed to perform well in the 5G network and work with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 system. It has a 120 Hz panel, which is only the second smartphone to offer this feature. Three smartphone models, including the Note 12, Note 12 Pro, and Note 12 Pro+, are part of the new lineup.
Redmi Note 12 5G comes with a large 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a full HD+ screen (2160×1080) that has an aspect ratio of 18:9 as well as an FHD+ IPS display protected by Gorilla Glass 6 for better visibility. It also has a 120hz refresh rate with a brightness of 1200 nits of peak brightness, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The Note 12 5G also comes pre-installed with MIUI 13, a custom skin based on Android 12. It has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage.
The device comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC chipset, which offers performance up to 2.2GHz. It has multiple sensors, including an IR emitter, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, and an ambient light sensor, as well as an infrared blaster for controlling TVs and other appliances through the Mi Remote app. Besides these, the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP53 rating, an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, a thin 7.9mm thickness, and a hybrid SIM card slot that allows for memory expansion of up to 1TB via a microSD card.
It features a triple camera setup with a 48MP primary camera that comes with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.4m pixel size, and an EIS solution. The secondary camera is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle shots and a 2-megapixel camera. The front camera has a dual-camera setup with 2 MP and 8 MP sensors.
The device houses a massive 5000mAh battery that is rated to deliver more than 14 hours of continuous video playback on 4G and more than 22 hours of continuous video playback on a Wi-Fi network. It enables 33-watt rapid charging. Three color options—Matte Black, Mystique Blue, which changes slightly in hue depending on the light, and Frosted Green—will be offered for the Note 12 5G.
The Redmi Note 12 series was officially introduced by Xiaomi earlier today, January 5, 2023. The initial sales will begin on January 11, 2023, at noon IST through Mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Home, and other retail partners.
The 4GB + 128GB variant of Note 12 costs 16,499 INR (around 199 US dollars), while the 6GB + 128GB model costs 18,499 INR (roughly 223 US dollars). There are discounts available for different payment terms.
The Note 12 is currently the only phone in India that supports the 5G network, with a peak speed that is more than 10 times faster than what was available during peak 4G days. The Redmi Note 12 5G can be pre-booked on Amazon India and Mi.com starting today, with shipping beginning on January 11, 2023.
